They enlisted the services of Todd Jersey Architecture because they wanted. in accordance with their values, green design.  Green features include:  airentrain concrete block, high-performance wall system, straw bale, certified wood, radiant heating, passive solar, and high content recycled materials.  One of the unique aspects of this project is that the monks will be doing much of the construction themselves.
