Todd Jersey Architecture has maximized the space, efficiency, economy and beauty of the future home for Cosmopolitan Baptist Church, a structure designed to fit the residential scale of the neighborhood and to conform to a budget of under $130.00 per square foot. The 22,000 square foot building, set to begin construction in the summer of 2006, will be a stunning spiritual centerpiece in a typically underserved neighborhood providing essential services including affordable day care to the community.
The church will feature a state-of-the-art wireless audio-visual system designed and built by Ceitronics. The project also includes several energy efficiency and energy conservation strategies to comply with PG&E's savings by design energy rebate program. These strategies include:
- High performance windows
- Increased insulation in the walls and roof
- Occupancy sensor lighting controls
- Day-lighting controls
- High efficiency air conditioning units
- Variable air volume air conditioning unit for the Sanctuary
- Displacement ventilation in the Sanctuary
- Clerestory windows in the Sancutary Solatube skylights in the upper classrooms
