The 122-room Gaia Anderson Hotel opened
this summer in Anderson, California to rousing applause
for its innovative green-design.
One of the most defining accolades
was received before ground was broken.
The City of Anderson waived the $100,000
environmental impact fee, astutely predicting that a green hotel
may encourage tourists to stay longer. And Maryanne Colin
Milker, lead writer for Ecopreneurist, and her family did just
that. She describes her unplanned return to Gaia Anderson,
after driving closer to Mt. Shasta and staying at another hotel
for one night, as "ah, home sweet home."*
Blending beautiful design with cutting
edge green approaches, Todd Jersey Architecture continues to
establish trends in green lodging design. Offering easy
access to many wild places like the Sacramento River, Mt. Shasta
and Lassen Volcanic National Park, the Gaia Anderson fittingly
blends in with its natural surroundings, preserving about 60%
