2701 Shattuck Avenue

2701 Shattuck Avenue, Berkeley, CA

2701 Shattuck Avenue is a new 23-unit condominum project close to the famous Berkeley Bowl Marketplace and the Ashby BART station. This project is slated to be completed by summer 2009. Green features include:

  • Over 50 "Solatube" tubular skylights illuminating the corridors on every level with natural full spectrum daylight. This feature saves energy and gives the corridors a brightness and vitality missing in standard condominum and apartment building corridors
  • Non-toxic paints and finishes with Green Seal certification
  • FSC Certified lumber which guarantees the wood comes from well managed healthy forests
  • Zinc Borate treated wood instead of copper and arsenic treatments which is a more environmentally supportive building material
  • Bamboo flooring throughout the project. Bamboo is a fast growing agricultural product. The use of bamboo saves using other hardwoods and protects forests
  • Non off gassing carpeting and carpet pads
  • "Skyblend" 100% recycled content fiberboard for cabinet boxes
  • Formaldehyde free batt insulation
  • Recycled glass tile in kitchen backsplash
  • Recycled glass terrazzo type kitchen countertops
  • Non toxic glues, sealants and adhesives
  • Roof garden
  • Reflective "cool" roof which decreases global warming
